Date/Time : 9.10.2011
Theme : Investigating Materials
Topic : Materials
Around Us
Sub Topic : Understanding the properties of
materials
Previous Knowledge : The students already know that materials
are made of metal or non-metal.
General Learning
Outcome : Identify materials that can conduct
electricity
Learning Outcome : At the end of the lesson, the students
should be able to:
1. Predict which objcts can and cannot conduct
electricity
2. Carry out the experiment correctly to identify
conductors and insulators.
3. Classify the given examples of objects into conductors
or insulators .
4. Name verbally the objects that conduct electricity and
cannot conduct electricity.
5. List out the conductor and insulator

Introducing a circuit
|
1.
Teacher asks:
(a)
What can you see in the pictures?
(b)
What can we form from these
pictures?
(c)
Does the bulb light up?
(d)
What will happen if we put the pen
between the wire?
(e)
Teacher explains that the bulb does
not light up because the electricity cannot flow through the circuit.
(f)
Teacher introduces the topic.

Experiment:
1. Conductor
2.
Insulator
All
conductors are made of metal,so metals are good conductor of electricity.
|
1.
Teacher divides pupils into 11
groups,each
group doing the experiment.
2.
Teacher discusses with the pupils
the procedures of experiment and what to record in the table.
a)
Pupils do the experiment to find out
which objects will light up the bulb and which objects do not light up the
bulb, then record in the table given.
3.
Pupils discuss among themselves and
compare the predicting.
4.
Teacher guides pupils to do the
conclusion about the topic the have learned.
